Projects Galore!

So. This Christmas I became the owner of one fantastic sewing machine. For those of you who didn't know, I have fantasies of actually becoming good at sewing things. And as any good crafter who fantasises about becoming a good crafter would do, I've begun my collection of things I want to make!

Drumroll please! Here they are!

This one I've actually started and am nearly finished with! *applause* I know! I know! Thank you! The only thing I've got left to do is sew on the velcro (self-adhesive velcro doesn't work if you're going to sew it, too. Believe me. *wink*) and put in some elastic in the next strap and sew around the apron. Okay. So the only thing I've really done is sewn together the neck strap and waist strap, but those suckers took me an entire afternoon! Anyway, this is a FREE pattern that you can get at: Sew Liberated

And....an apron for myself! I saw this at Pink Chalk Fabrics, and fell in love with it! I'm saving this project for when my mom comes next week! It looks a little tricky and I think I'll need her help!
And lastly, this is going to be a dangerous site, I can already tell. You Can Make This.com has SO many absolutely cute patterns! Here are the ones I've got waiting on me to do!

A reversable skirt for myself. I've got the fabric that I want to use, however, I'm participating in a base wide "Biggest Loser" competition with Drew and a couple guys from his work (Go Team 2BUCU!!). I thought I'd wait to make this to see what results come of this competition.
And here's another FREE pattern that I got because, well, it was free! Why not, right?
And another project that I'll probably need help with, but I've got visions of making these this summer for Kami and her cousins. We'll see, Rachel! ;^) So. I'm off! Stay tuned for actual finished projects in the next few weeks, months, years, eons! And while I'm at it:

Me and My Babies

Just a quick pic of me and my babies! I love them SO much!

Dress Up

And during the said snow storm, Kami had a lot of fun playing with mommy and daddy. She especially had fun with the fashion show she put on for us!

Blizzard

Sorry! I'm just getting around to posting these pictures. They've been in my 'draft' box for a few days now! Anyway, last weekend we got a pretty decent snow storm here in Korea. So significant in fact that pretty much everybody was snowed in (didn't bode well I'm sure for those Koreans who had planned on traveling to see family for Lunar New Year). Korea doesn't usually get a lot of snow in the winter, especially the kind that actually sticks to the ground, so they don't have that great of a removal plan. Most streets couldn't get a snow plow down anyway, and people park on the streets here, so, if they did plow, tons of cars would have been seriously more stuck then they already were.

ANYWAY, church was canceled that day since the members that live on base weren't allowed to leave, and seriously wouldn't be able to get to our chapel anyway, which is in the middle of a block of super tiny narrow streets that, of course people park on. So, we all bundled up and headed outside to do a little playing in the snow. Kami would have kept playing in the snow well after all of her fingers and toes fell off, if we let her! It was a fun day. And I must say a welcome sight. The hardest part of living in Korea has been the winter time.

It's cold.

It's dry.

It's brown.

So, here are some pictures from our day.

These would be my favorite pictures. A snowball fight between Drew and Kami. All played within inches of eachother.

Skin Condition

So, last week was such a crazy week! I think I had something to go to and do every single day. The tricky part? Toting two kids along with me! Especially when one of them is having issues with listening. Argh.

Anyway.....in between all of these comings and goings, there was a spot on the side of AJ's face that had Drew and myself worried. So, we took him to the pediatrician (who is absolutely fabulous here). Turns out, he has some kind of Eczema. There are so many kiddos here with skin issues. It's so crazy. This weather is so harsh - very cold, very dry. So, poor AJ. He's got to be itching like crazy! We've been putting some medication on the sore on the side of his face, and the rest of his body is lathered in Vaseline most of the time! But, as you can see in these pictures, he's a pretty good sport! (the sore pictured is after a few treatments....it looks dramatically better than what it did!)

Also, check it; AJ started on his first 'solids' (aka, very runny Rice Cereal) and LOVES it! He takes me for loops all the time. Kami wasn't so much impressed with the Rice Cereal when we started her on it!

Bake Set

Kami got a package in the mail from Grandma a couple of weeks ago, and in it was a little baking set. So, we spent one morning making and baking cookies with her new stuff! She did a fantastic job! I definitely think that if you want to learn how to "let things go", try cooking with your kids.

Like here, for example. Kami kept wanting to eat the flour. Hmmm. Won't eat most of her dinner, but, flour? Interesting. Here's our dialogue when this picture was taken:
Me: Kami, yuck. Don't eat the flour.
Kami: But.....it's kinda good!
Anyway, thanks Mom, for the Baking Set! Kami loves having her own stuff to cook with!

Golf, anyone?

Oops! AJ thought by the phrase "going to church" meant going golfing!! I can see how the two can get mixed up!
This post is especially for my mom, who got this adorable outfit for AJ! And, seriously...could he look any more like his dad???
